Keswick is situated on the shores of Lake Derwentwater, the widest lake in England, and under the watchful gaze of Skiddaw, the fourth highest peak in England. These two natural wonders create the perfect backdrop for this picturesque market town but are by no means all that Keswick has to offer.

There are many other peaks which are easily accessible from Keswick. Blencathra, Cat Bells, Grizedale Pike and Causey Pike are just a few. In fact the legendary Cumbrian fell runner Bob Graham visited 42 Lakeland peaks in 24 hours starting and finishing at The Moot Hall in Keswick!

Also within easy reach is Borrowdale Valley, considered by many to be the most beautiful valley in the country, and which boasts the future King as one of its regular visitors.

Keswick also offers an abundance of attractions within its busy town centre. There are lots of interesting shops in which to browse and buy; many of which are small independent traders with goods you may not find elsewhere. So rare in these days of chain stores and cloned shopping centres.

There are also plenty of pubs and bars in the town in which to sup and natter. Whether it's a log fire and real ale you're after or cocktails in a stylish wine bar, you'll find what you're looking for.

There is a wealth of choice when it comes to eating out too. As you'd expect there are all the comforting traditional favourites available as well as cuisine from further afield such as Italian, Mexican, Indian, Thai and Chinese. Plus there are numerous cafes in the town offering drinks, light lunches (or not so light if you prefer!) and snacks.

At Damson Lodge we will gladly recommend places which we have enjoyed in the past and are happy to book tables for you if required.

Keswick also boasts many attractions to keep you occupied. Here are just a few:
